What to Expect
Shoulder MRI typically takes 30–45 minutes. You'll lie still with your arm at your side or in a specific position.
No special preparation required for non-contrast studies. Remove metal jewelry, piercings, and notify the facility of any metal implants before your appointment.
Most shoulder MRI is without contrast. MRI arthrography (injection into joint) may be ordered for specific labral evaluation — this is a separate procedure.
Radiology reports typically available 24–72 hours after imaging. Request a copy from the facility.
