Fasting Requirements

Some lab panels (like lipid profiles and glucose tests) require fasting for 8–12 hours before blood draw. The provider will specify fasting requirements for your particular order. Non-fasting labs can usually be done anytime.

Pre-Imaging Labs (eGFR)

If you're planning contrast-enhanced imaging (MRI with contrast or CT with contrast), you'll need recent kidney function (eGFR/creatinine) results. DOD can order these labs to prepare you for imaging.

Lab Results Timeline

Most lab results are available within 24–48 hours after your blood draw. Some specialized tests may take longer. Discuss results with your primary care doctor or a specialist to understand next steps.
