Diagnostic Order Support for Occupational Health Clinics

When employees or injured workers need diagnostic imaging or lab orders and your clinic's physician isn't immediately available, DOD provides the virtual review step — at no cost to your clinic.

The Occupational Health Order Bottleneck

Occupational health clinics serving employers, injured workers, and employees undergoing pre-employment or return-to-work evaluations frequently encounter situations where specific diagnostic orders — musculoskeletal imaging, lab panels, EKG — are needed but the clinic's own physician is unavailable, the order needs to be issued by a provider independent of the employer relationship, or the worker's personal PCP is not accessible in time to meet the evaluation timeline.

DOD provides the focused virtual provider review step for these specific diagnostic order needs. The employee or worker contacts DOD independently, pays the $40 consultation fee, and a licensed provider reviews the specific request. When appropriate and accepted, the order can be sent to the chosen facility.

Important limitation: DOD does not perform occupational medicine evaluations, fitness-for-duty assessments, DOT physicals, or workers' compensation documentation. DOD's scope is limited to the specific diagnostic order review step.
